Quick Start

Get started in four simple steps:

  1. Go to AI Docs

From the Genspark homepage, click "AI Docs" at the bottom, or select "AI Docs" from the "New" menu in the sidebar.

  2. Choose your format

Pick the format that fits the document — Rich Text, Markdown, Web Doc, or Word. The choice is permanent: the format is locked once the document has content. Want manual editing later? Rich Text and Markdown are the editable formats — Web Doc and Word are preview-only.

  3. Describe your needs

Tell AI what you want to create a resume, report, contract, or any document type. Here are some sample prompts:

Create a professional resume for a software engineer position based on my LinkedIn profile
Design a menu for a boutique coffee shop with coffee, tea, and dessert categories
Convert this handwritten class schedule to a formatted electronic document
  4. Get results

AI Docs automatically generates your document with proper structure and formatting. You can then refine through conversation, make manual edits, and export your document. The system automatically creates "Save Points" for version tracking.

Feature Guide

AI Edit

Select any text for precise AI editing without regenerating the entire document.

  1. Select text with your mouse — the selected content appears above the chat box
  2. Enter your instruction, such as:
    • "Rewrite this in a more professional tone"
    • "Expand this section with specific examples"
    • "Translate this paragraph to Spanish"
    • "Make this more concise"
  3. Apply to let AI rewrite the selected content

In Rich Text, you can also select text and use the in-place AI Rewrite control, or right-click and choose AI ToolsAI Write. Markdown has no in-place AI tools — selecting text there sends it to the chat bar as context instead.

AI Rewrite and AI Write send your entire document as context — a one-line edit bills input tokens for the whole doc. Manual editing bills nothing.

Manual Edit

You can make direct edits in the Rich Text or Markdown editor to adjust text formatting, layout, and insert elements like links, images, and tables.

Which formats are editable:

Format Manual editing
Rich Text Yes — full visual editor
Markdown Yes — plain-text editor
Web Doc No — preview only
Word No — preview only

The output format is chosen up front and is locked once the document has content. The format selector works before the document exists; after that it greys out — if you try to switch, it reads: "To use a different format, please start a new project."

There's no Save button — your edits save automatically (about a second after you stop typing), and they're included when you export, even if you export right after editing.

Edit any document

Web Doc and Word documents can't be hand-edited, but you can still change them:

  1. Open the document.
  2. Highlight the text you want to change — this works in every format. In Rich Text and Word, you can also click a generated element (a table, for example) to target it; Web Doc is text-selection only.
  3. Prompt the change in the chat bar on the left.

Selection-targeted editing works this way for every format — including preview-only Web Doc and Word documents.

Export

Click View & Export in the top right corner of the document. The button appears once your document has content and is disabled while the agent is still working. The menu depends on your format:

  • Rich Text / Web Doc — Export as Word Document · Export as PDF · Open in separate browser · Make a Copy
  • Markdown — the same, plus Export as Markdown
  • Word — Download Word Document · Export as PDF · Make a Copy

Open in separate browser opens your document as a web page in a new tab — that's the HTML view, not a file download. Make a Copy duplicates the document into a new project for independent editing.

Certain export formats (Word, PDF, Markdown) are included with Plus, Pro, and Team plans.

Version Management

AI Docs uses a Save Point system to track every modification:

  • AI edits: Each AI prompt creates a new Save Point (none is created if the content didn't change)
  • Manual edits: A manual edit creates a Save Point named "[Manual Edit]"; consecutive manual changes by the same person are merged into that same version — a second editor or a version conflict starts a new Save Point
  • Complete tracking: Every Save Point captures the full document state and modification information

Here's how to use Save Points:

  1. Click version dropdown in upper left corner of editor
  2. View all historical versions (reverse chronological order)
  3. Select any version to preview its content
  4. Click "Rollback to" to restore your document to that version

The Save Point dropdown appears only once there's more than one Save Point, and it's hidden on mobile and in read-only documents.

Export follows the version you're previewing. If you're viewing an older Save Point, that older version is what exports — not your latest edits. Make sure you're on the version you want before you export.

Here are some common scenarios:

  • Recover deleted content Find the Save Point before deletion, preview to confirm, then rollback
  • Compare different approaches Try version B with AI, compare it with version A, rollback if needed, or try version C
  • Track document evolution Review how your document was refined step by step through each Save Point

Format Conversion

The format is chosen when you create the document and is locked once the document has content — the format selector greys out, and if you try to switch you'll see: "To use a different format, please start a new project." There's no format conversion after the document is generated; to use another format, start a new project and choose it at creation.

Template Library

We provide hundreds of professional templates covering job applications, business communications, reports and analysis, legal and finance, creative and marketing, event planning, and more.

You can select a template on the AI Docs homepage, enter your prompt to customize content, or use "Manual Edit" or "AI Edit" to refine your document.

  • Share: Click "Share" in the top right corner, adjust permission settings, and share your project link
  • Export: Click View & Export in the top right corner and choose your format — the options depend on the document's format (Markdown documents also offer Export as Markdown)

FAQ

Should I choose Rich Text or Markdown?

Choose "Rich Text" if you need beautiful layout and visual editing; choose "Markdown" if you focus on content, need version control, or write technical documentation.

Is AI-generated content accurate?

AI uses the latest large model technology with high accuracy, but we recommend human review of key information.

How long can a document be generated at once?

There's no strict limit, but we recommend generating complex documents in segments for better quality control.

Can I recover my current work after rolling back to a previous version?

No, when you rollback to a previous version, all changes made after that version will be lost and cannot be recovered — and the conversation history after that point is cleared too. Make sure to review the version carefully before confirming the rollback.

How to delete unwanted Save Points?

Currently the system automatically manages all historical records to ensure complete version tracking.
